About
My life path, my passions
I teach yoga and meditation, I’m also a massage therapist (licensed in New York State), ayurveda educator, reiki practitioner. Above all perhaps, I am a dancer. It was dance that brought me to New York in 1993, yoga then quickly appeared on my path, a life-saving discovery that highlighted the intimate link between the frazzled state of my nervous system, my existential angst and my physical health issues. Two years of daily practice under the tutelage of my first teacher, Gordon Sharpe, gave me profound peace of mind (in short). My life mission then became clear: to guide others towards emotional balance, better self-knowledge, and an intimate connection to Life within and without. Very quickly, my schedule filled up with group and private classes. It was 1996. Subsequently, ayurveda, massage therapy and reiki enriched my practice.
The common thread of my explorations remains the human body, this physical vehicle in which we exist, which also turns out to be a fabulous tool for accessing our unconscious. Indeed, over time our undigested emotional wounds become lodged in our tissues, creating blockages, energetic at first, then emotional and physical, in short, a general malaise. But as Ron Kurtz says in his book of the same name, "the body reveals..." If you know how to read it, get it to open up and talk... Quite an art-form! And body psychotherapy, which I have been studying for more than four years, does just that.
Knowledge in this therapeutic approach naturally integrates into my 1-1 work with yoga and massage clients, giving me insights into their issues, so I can tailor my approach accordingly.
Because of my lifepath, I have often been called to helping people struggling with nervous system disorders, stress, anxiety, sleep disturbances, exhaustion, chronic pain. Grounding, structure, regulation, relaxation, slowing down, compassion… are keywords that guide my approach.
After twenty-eight years living in Manhattan, I am happy to be back on the land of my ancestors in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence.
